The Arts

In The Arts, students learn through a creative process, exploring ideas, experimenting, trying new possibilities and refining how they express their artistic intentions. While finishing an artwork can be exciting and rewarding, the most important learning happens along the way. Students come to value this process as they build skills and understanding across Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music and Visual Arts.

Students express their ideas through movement, images, objects, words and sounds. As young artists, they connect with others, share stories and emotions, and grow confidence in their own artistic voice.

As audiences, students learn to reflect on creative work, their own and others’, gaining insight into different perspectives and forms of expression. As they progress, students deepen their understanding of artistic concepts, refine their skills and begin to consider safety and ethics in their work. They also learn how ideas and practices in the arts connect to broader, transferable ways of thinking and creating.
