School Information

Attendance

Regular attendance of children at school is crucial to their learning and well-being. Children are legally obliged to attend school from enrolling until they are 16 years old.

It is expected that whenever your child is absent, the school is notified either by phone (8262 4864) or Seesaw. All absences are followed up by class teachers.

Families who are on holidays during term time are asked to let the school know. If the holiday is longer than a week, a form (available from the Front Office required by the Department for Education) must be completed and approved by the Principal.

Children are expected to be in their classroom and ready for learning by 8:55am. If a child is frequently late or absent families will be contacted and it may be necessary for the school to advise the Department for Education Social Worker for Truancy.

Children must remain on the school grounds between 8:35am and 3:05pm unless collected by a family member.  If your child/ren is late for school or you wish to collect your child/ren early from school we ask you to come to the Front Office to sign your child/ren in or out first (if signing your child out during break times or after 2:45pm, you must pre arrange with your class teacher or the front office). Class teachers will be contacted to confirm your child has been signed out by our Administration Team.  This ensures the safety of all children.

Assemblies

Assemblies occur 2 times per term at 9:30am on Fridays of Weeks 3 and 7, celebrating children’s learning. Families are welcome to attend and will be informed of additional dates via Seesaw or our Social Media platforms.

Parking

Please observe the NO STANDING signs in Belalie and Montague Roads.  We need your help to help keep our children safe at all times.  Please encourage your children to use the crossing lights on Belalie, Beovich and Montague Roads.

For the children’s safety the staff car park is not to be used for “dropping off or picking up” children.

Please refer to the Council Guidelines and School Car Parking Map for safe car parking options.

Excursions

Excursions are an important part of our educational program.  Each family will be advised well before the day so that consent forms and money can be returned.  We are unable to take children out of the school on excursions without consent from families. We use Edsmart to accept payment and send consent forms home electronically. We do not accept cash or in person payments.

If at any time you have difficulty in meeting the cost of excursions, please speak to us or enquire at the office about a time payment plan. We want all children to have the opportunity to participate in activities. Families are always welcome and are in fact sometimes needed to assist on excursions. They are a lot of fun and the children tend to feel special when their families come along, particularly the younger children.

Food

Children are provided with time to eat in their classrooms prior to outside breaks. Healthy food choices are encouraged, in line with our Allergy Awareness Policy

Children are also encouraged to bring a bottle of water to school every day to support them to stay hydrated. Drinking fountains are available in our play spaces.

Homework

We ask that families spend time reading with their children.

Individual teachers set homework if and when it is required. Bookmarks are available with questions you may like to ask your children to build comprehension in reading.

Personal Belongings

All clothing, school bags, lunch boxes, etc. should be clearly marked with your child’s name.  As children often do not recognise their own belongings, name tags will help us to return all lost property.

Visitors

All visitors to school outside of normal drop off/pick up times, must present to the Front Office for signing in to receive a sticker.  This process ensures the safety of all individuals on the grounds of the school.
